MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Casa Tierra SA-1, Inc. is to develop multi-family and single-family housing under various affordable housing programs that assist families and seniors in achieving economic stability while enhancing the local community.
ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION
Casa Tierra received its Certificate of Filing with the Texas Secretary of State on September 3, 2010. The non-profit affordable housing corporation officially received approval notification of its Section 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status on June 6, 2011 with an effective exemption date of September 3, 2010. In addition, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts recognized Casa Tierra as a 501 (c) (3) organization and provided tax exempt status as well as sales tax exemption effective January 11, 2013. Casa Tierra remains in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service, the Texas Secretary of State and the Texas Comptroller’s Office. In addition, Casa Tierra has also received partial and full property tax exemptions on some developments based upon the non-profit’s project participation and exemptions. Casa Tierra is also recognized by HUD and registered in their database in relation to “Previous Participation” with past apartment developments. The 501 (c) (3) non-profit affordable housing corporation is located in San Antonio, Bexar County.
OBJECTIVE AND GOALS OF THE NON-PROFIT CORPORATION
The objective and goals of Casa Tierra are to provide affordable multi-family and single-family housing in Texas communities. This includes participating with for-profit developers in relation with their developments both for families and seniors. Casa Tierra participates in the following affordable housing programs: the Housing Tax Credit (HTC) Program, the HOME Investment Partnership Program, the Rural Development (RD) Program, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Program, and local city and county municipalities programs.
